Grace does not erase responsibility; it gives responsibility somewhere new to begin.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Being forgiven does not delete what you did or what it caused. What it does is give you a place to stand while you make it right, which is different from being told the debt never existed. Grace without responsibility leaves the damage. Responsibility without grace leaves you too crushed to repair anything.

If you have been given a second chance, treat it as a starting point rather than a settlement. Ask what the actual repair looks like and begin one piece of it. The receiving and the working belong together.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Where has being forgiven given you somewhere to start again?
