The task you keep pushing to tomorrow is often pointing at something you’re nervous about.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Procrastination is usually not laziness, it is avoidance with a calendar. The jobs that slide are rarely the longest ones, they are the ones carrying risk: finding out you do not understand it, hearing no, being seen trying. Your mind moves the task to protect you from the feeling, not the work. That is why pushing it again brings relief for an hour.
Look at what has moved three days running and ask what you are afraid will happen when you start. Then do the smallest piece that touches that fear: open the document, write the first line, send the message. The fear usually shrinks on contact.
Which postponed task is really a nervousness you have not named?
