A revolution eventually has to decide who cleans the offices it captured.

Overthrowing something is a shorter task than running it. Once the offices are taken, someone still has to empty the bins, keep the records, pay the staff, and decide who does the dull work that any institution requires. That question is where transformations usually meet their real limits, because it is unglamorous and it never ends.
When you change anything, in an organisation or in your own life, plan the maintenance alongside the change. Ask who will do it, indefinitely, and whether that is agreed. Most reversals are not defeats, they are a failure to answer this question in advance.
What unglamorous upkeep followed the last change you fought for?
