You can lose a role before losing the reflex to answer to it.

The role ends and the reflex remains. You still reach for the keys, still expect the call, still start to answer to a title nobody is using any more. The habits were built over years and they do not receive the announcement, so they keep arriving for a while after the position has gone.

When this happens, treat it as normal rather than as evidence that you have not moved on. The reflexes fade at their own pace. Filling the same hours with something else is usually more effective than trying to stop reaching.
