A mistake made aloud becomes a resource for people who remained silent.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
One person says the wrong thing out loud and everyone silently learns from it. The error gets examined, corrected, and understood by a room full of people who had the same confusion and would not have raised it. Whoever spoke absorbed the discomfort and produced a public good.
Be the person who asks the obvious question occasionally, particularly if you have some standing in the room. And when someone else does it, say that it was a useful question. Both of those make the next one cheaper for everyone.
When did someone’s admitted error save you from your own?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
