The lesson that changes a life may never appear in the course description.
CREATIVITY
CREATIVITY
The thing that changes you is rarely on the syllabus. A remark, a book someone lent you, a conversation after class, an example that reframed something, none of it planned or assessed. Institutions deliver a curriculum and the formative material tends to arrive sideways, from a person rather than a programme.
Make room for the sideways part, in your own learning and in what you offer others. Stay ten minutes after. Lend the book. Most of what people credit for changing their direction cost the giver almost nothing.
What did you take from a class that had nothing to do with the subject?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
