What would learning look like if forgetting were treated as a design problem instead of a moral failure?
CREATIVITY
CREATIVITY
Forgetting is treated as a character flaw when it is really a predictable feature of how a mind holds anything at all. If you assume memory should simply hold, every gap becomes evidence about you rather than information about the method. Treated as a design problem instead, forgetting stops being shameful and starts being useful, because it tells you exactly where the structure is too thin.
Notice what you actually lose and when. Instead of promising yourself you will try harder, build something around the weak point: a note in the place you will be standing, a second pass a week later, a way of using the thing rather than storing it. The failure was never in your effort, and it was never yours alone to carry.
What do you blame yourself for forgetting that no system helped you hold?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
