A delayed celebration can reveal whether you wanted the achievement or the moment of being witnessed.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Postponing the celebration separates two things that usually travel together. If the delay barely registers, the achievement was for you. If it aches, what you wanted was the moment of being seen, and that is worth knowing rather than being embarrassed about, since wanting witness is one of the more ordinary human needs.

So pay attention to what fades and what does not when the party is pushed back. If it is recognition you want, ask for it plainly from one or two people rather than hoping the world supplies it. Naming the need tends to get it met far more reliably than achieving harder in the hope that it becomes obvious.
