A rescue can succeed publicly while leaving private recovery unfinished.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
A rescue can be complete and public while the actual recovery has barely started. The dramatic part ends, the attention leaves, and the person is left with an aftermath that has no audience and no clear finishing point. Being saved and being well are separated by a long stretch that nobody photographs.
So when someone comes through something visible, mark the follow-up rather than only the resolution. Check in a month later, when everyone else has stopped. That later contact is usually worth more than anything offered during the crisis, and it is the part most people forget to give.
What were you still recovering from after everyone assumed you were fine?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
