The invitation that includes your limitations is more welcoming than the invitation that asks you to overcome them.
GRATITUDE
GRATITUDE
Being invited on the condition that you rise to the occasion is not quite being invited. It puts the work of belonging on the person with the least room to do it: the one who tires early, cannot manage the stairs, does not drink, needs to leave at nine. An invitation that already accounts for those things says you were pictured in the plan rather than added to it.
When you next organize something, ask one person what would make it easy for them and build that in before inviting. Say plainly what the evening involves, so nobody has to negotiate on arrival.
Where would you show up if the plan accounted for your limits?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
