The person who needs a slower morning is still part of the trip.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Group travel tends to reward whoever is up first. The early risers set the plan, the late starter becomes the reason everyone is behind, and someone who simply needs more time to get going ends up apologizing daily for how their body works. Often there is a medical reason, or an age, or a night of bad sleep nobody knows about. Being ready at eight is not a measure of enthusiasm.

Build the itinerary around a later start and see whether anything is really lost. Let people meet at midday rather than requiring one departure. Nobody should have to earn their place on a holiday by keeping up.
