Sometimes the wolf at the door is less dangerous than the fear you invited inside.

The trouble outside is often more manageable than the fear you have brought indoors and given a place. Actual difficulties have a size and a set of possible responses. Fear expands without limit and it operates without any of the constraints a real problem has.
Write the feared thing down in specific terms, including what would actually happen. Then look at the size of it on paper. Named and bounded, it usually turns out to be something you could handle.
Which fear have you fed until it moved in with you?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
