A good plan leaves room to discover that you enjoy a different part of the journey.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

A plan is written by someone who has not yet had the experience, so it contains a guess about which part will be the good part. Sometimes the guess is wrong: the workshop is dull and the market is wonderful, the destination disappoints and the drive does not. A schedule with no slack forces you to keep spending on the original guess. Discovery needs somewhere to put itself.

Leave one morning and one afternoon genuinely empty. When something turns out better than you expected, let yourself go back to it rather than moving on because the plan says so.
