An old skill can remain valuable while needing a new way to be explained.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

A skill does not expire when the vocabulary around it changes. What expires is often the description, because the words that once made your work legible belong to a different era, and a listener who has never used them hears nothing at all. That gap gets mistaken for obsolescence, first by others and eventually by the person who holds the skill.

Take one thing you do well and explain it without any of the terms you learned it in. Say what problem it solves and for whom, in words a newcomer would actually use. Keep the skill and update the sentence.
