Requests for a change are often met as the opening of a negotiation, when they are usually the conclusion of one the person already had with themselves. They have tested what works, weighed what to ask for, and arrived with the smallest version that would do. Treating that as an opening bid means solving a problem they have already solved.
When someone asks for a specific adjustment, start by trying it. If you truly cannot, say what is actually in the way and ask what else would work. Assume the request is informed, because it generally is.
When did you overrule someone about their own needs?
