A hobby should leave some room for experiments that nobody expects to keep.
CREATIVITY
CREATIVITY
Once everything you make has to be good, a hobby starts behaving like work. Standards creep in from the places you share it, and the failed attempt, the odd idea, the thing made only to see what happens quietly stops being allowed. That is usually where the interest lived in the first place.
Keep a corner of it deliberately unserious. Make one thing this month you have no intention of showing anyone or keeping. Give yourself permission to waste the materials, since the waste is what buys the discovery.
What could you make badly just to see what happens?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
