Being close to someone does not make every private decision a group discussion.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Closeness creates a sense of shared jurisdiction. When someone matters to you, their choices feel partly yours, and you can find yourself owed an explanation you were never actually owed. It runs both ways: you may also feel obliged to submit your own decisions for review before you are ready. Intimacy and consultation are not the same thing.

Notice which of your recent opinions were invited and which arrived on their own. When someone tells you something they have already decided, try responding to the person rather than the decision. And let a few of your own things stay unshared until they are yours.
