Bring home a better understanding, not only proof that you went somewhere.

Travel can be collected or absorbed, and the two produce very different results. Collecting is about coverage: the photograph taken, the site visited, the list shortened. Absorbing is slower and looks like less, since it involves sitting somewhere long enough to notice how people queue, talk to each other, or spend a Tuesday. Only one of these changes what you think once you are home.
On the next trip, give one full day to a single neighbourhood and no plan beyond eating there. Talk to somebody who lives there about ordinary things. Bring back one thing you now understand rather than five you have seen.
