A good result is easier to enjoy when it is not required to justify your entire life.

When one outcome has to carry the weight of every choice you made to get there, no outcome is ever big enough. The promotion has to redeem the years, the book has to answer the doubters, the move has to prove the leaving was right. Under that load, a genuinely good thing arrives feeling insufficient. The pleasure is crushed by the job it was given.

Let a win be the size it actually is. When something goes well this week, name what it is good for and stop there, without extending it into a verdict on your character. The verdict was never available from a single result anyway.
