A change in income deserves a new conversation about old expectations.

Household patterns are set at one income level and then keep running after it changes. The regular dinners, the standing gift, the share of a holiday, the assumption about who covers what: none of these renegotiate themselves. Silence is expensive here, because everyone continues planning around a number that no longer exists.
If your situation has shifted in either direction, say so early to the people it touches, before a missed contribution has to be explained. Name one or two specific arrangements to revisit rather than the whole topic at once. If a friend has gone quiet about money, suggest the cheaper plan yourself.
