The first new option does not have to be accepted just because the old one closed.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

When something closes, the discomfort of the open space pushes most decisions. The first offer arrives while you are still unsteady, and gets judged against the fear of having nothing rather than against what you want. That is a poor comparison, and it is how people end up two years into something they took because it appeared quickly.

Give yourself a set number of days before answering, and say so to whoever is asking. Ask whether you would choose this if the old thing had ended a year ago. Taking it may still be right, and it is better taken as a choice than a rescue.
