A shared routine is strongest when both people are allowed to say it needs changing.

Routines start as agreements and slowly become facts. Once something happens every week it acquires an authority nobody granted it, and asking to change it begins to feel like a complaint about the other person rather than about the arrangement. Anything that cannot be renegotiated will eventually be endured and quietly resented instead.
Say out loud, before it is a problem, that either of you can put the routine up for review. Ask occasionally whether it still suits, and mean the question. Changing an arrangement is lighter work than repairing what a year of enduring does.
Which routine in your home has nobody felt free to question?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
