The person who repairs something should leave the next repair easier to understand.

RESILIENCE
Every fix has two products: the thing working again, and the state of knowledge left behind. Undocumented cleverness, a screw put back in the wrong hole, a workaround nobody explained: all of it works today and costs somebody an afternoon later. Whoever comes next is usually you, with less memory than you expect.
When you mend or adjust anything, leave a trace: a note in the drawer, a line in a file, a word to the next person. Say what you changed and why, in the plainest terms you can manage.
What have you fixed in a way the next person can follow?
