A first attempt becomes braver when you let it look like a first attempt.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Hiding the fact that you are new costs more energy than the work itself. Pretending to be practiced means every wobble has to be covered, so you avoid anything visible enough to expose you. Once an attempt is allowed to look like an attempt, the room adjusts its expectations and you stop spending effort on the disguise. Courage gets cheaper when there is nothing left to protect.
Say it out loud next time: this is my first go at this. Then do the thing imperfectly and in public, and notice how little anyone minds.
What are you hiding behind polish that a beginner would show?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
