The future remembers what the present keeps calling insignificant.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

What looks insignificant is usually just slow. The hour spent each evening, the habit of a small deferral, the thing you say to yourself when you are tired: none of it registers on any given day, and all of it accumulates into a self and a circumstance. The future is largely made of what the present did not bother to count.

Pick one repeated small thing and multiply it out honestly across a year. The number will be larger than the daily version suggested. Then change either that one thing or another small one in the opposite direction, and let it run for the same length of time.
