Returning to a skill is easier when the first goal is recognition rather than performance.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Coming back to something you used to do well is mostly an argument with memory. Your hands remember less than your standards do, so early sessions get measured against a version of you who practiced daily. That comparison makes an ordinary re-entry feel like failure. Aiming to recognize the thing again is a target you can actually hit.

Give the first few sessions back the job of being familiar rather than good. Notice one thing your body still knows, and let that be the whole result for now.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which old skill would you restart if nobody measured you?
