A seed dug up every morning to check its progress never gets the chance to grow.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Some processes require being left alone. Constant checking is not neutral attention; it interferes with the very thing it is trying to measure, and roots do not develop while being examined. The impulse comes from anxiety rather than care, and anxiety is a poor gardener.

Find the thing you are currently monitoring too closely: a new habit, a fresh relationship, a project in its early weeks, a decision you have already made. Set an interval at which you will actually check, and leave it alone between those points. The discomfort of not looking is the price, and the growth is what it buys.
