The urge to act immediately does not prove immediate action is wise.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Urgency is a sensation, not a verdict. The body produces it under stress regardless of whether the situation actually calls for speed, which is why the strongest impulses to act now so often arrive in exactly the moments when acting now is worst: after an insult, a piece of bad news, a message that stings.

Build a small gap between the urge and the action. An hour for messages, a night for decisions, longer for anything irreversible. You will find most urgency dissolves once it is not obeyed, and the small remainder that survives the delay is the genuine kind, which is worth acting on.
