The opinion you formed years ago should occasionally meet the circumstances that exist now.

Views get formed carefully and then stop being examined. The conclusion made sense given what was true at the time, and it keeps being applied long after the prices, the technology, the people, or your own situation have moved, because it is stored as a fact rather than as a judgment. Nobody has time to revisit everything, and the ones worth revisiting are those you defend most automatically.

Pick one thing you are certain about and look at the current evidence rather than the memory of it. Ask what would have to be true for you to change your mind.
