A brave conversation should leave the other person room to be honest too.

GRATITUDE
Courage in a hard conversation is not only about what you say. If you arrive with the whole case assembled and no space for a reply, you have delivered a verdict rather than opened a subject. The other person then spends the conversation defending themselves, which is the surest way to learn nothing you did not already believe.
Say your piece plainly, then stop and actually wait. Ask what their side of it looks like, and be willing to hear something that complicates your account. Bravery includes the risk that you were partly wrong.
When you spoke honestly last, did the other person get a turn?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
