A difficult decision can be carried quietly without being carried weakly.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Strength gets confused with volume. Someone who has made a hard choice and is not announcing it, defending it or looking for agreement can appear less certain than the person broadcasting theirs, when in fact quiet is often what conviction sounds like once the deciding is done. Not needing an audience is not the same as not being sure.

If you are carrying something difficult, you are allowed to tell very few people. Choose one or two who can hear it without needing to fix it. And when you meet someone whose big decision arrives without fanfare, do not mistake the calm for a lack of weight.
