An enjoyable routine can be adjusted before it has to be abandoned.

Things you love are often dropped at full size. The knees complain, the schedule tightens, and the swim, the choir, or the Saturday ride goes entirely, because the only version anyone considered was the one that no longer fits. A smaller or altered version usually keeps most of what you were getting from it, and it can be arranged long before quitting becomes the obvious choice.
If something you enjoy has started to strain, change one variable rather than the whole arrangement. Shorter, slower, a different day, or different company is nearly always available.
Could you shrink a routine rather than give it up entirely?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
