A small fact remembered later can make a person feel less alone in their story.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Remembering a detail proves something that reassurance cannot. It shows that a piece of another person’s life stayed with you after the conversation ended, which means their story exists somewhere outside their own head. The fact itself can be trivial: the name of a sister, an exam date, a difficult neighbour. What it carries is that they were heard properly rather than politely.

Write down one small thing the next time someone tells you what is going on with them. Ask about that exact thing a week or two later. Do not explain that you wrote it down.
