Courage can be quiet enough that nobody realizes how much it cost you.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Much courage produces no visible event. Getting up on a day you could not, holding a boundary in a two-minute conversation, telling one truth, going to an appointment you dreaded: none of it looks like anything from outside, and the cost can be considerable. Bravery is not required to be legible.
If you have been discounting your own courage because it did not look impressive, reconsider the accounting. Name one thing you did recently that was harder than it appeared. Give yourself credit in the same currency you would extend to someone else, and let the quietness of it stop disqualifying it.
What brave thing have you done that no one noticed?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
