A mistake becomes easier to repair when its owner stops making it difficult to discuss.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Defensiveness costs more than the error it protects. Once people learn that raising something with you means a long exchange about intentions, they stop raising things, and small problems get discovered late by someone else. The mistake was rarely the expensive part. The wall around it is what turns a fixable moment into a pattern nobody mentions.
When someone brings you an error, say yes and ask what would help before saying anything about how it happened. Explanations can come later if they are still needed. Being easy to correct is worth more than being right first time.
