You can change a preference without presenting a case against your former self.

Tastes move, and people often feel they must justify the movement by putting their old self on trial. The new preference gets defended with an argument about how wrong the previous one was, as though liking something different required a verdict. Nothing about a change of mind demands that. You are allowed to have enjoyed what you enjoyed and to want something else now.
The next time your taste shifts, say what you like now and leave it there. Skip the explanation of what was wrong with before. If someone asks, curiosity about the new thing is a better answer than a case against the old one.
Which of your tastes changed quietly, with no argument required?
