The end of one role is a good time to ask which duties you accepted only because you were already there.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Roles collect duties by proximity rather than by choice. You were in the room, you were capable, nobody else volunteered, and over the years a set of tasks attached itself to you without anyone deciding it should. While the role continues, all of it looks like the job. When the role ends, for any reason, the pieces come apart and can be looked at separately for the first time.
Write down what you were actually doing and mark which parts you would take again. Notice the ones you only held because you happened to be nearby. Whatever comes next, let those stay behind unless you choose them on purpose.
Which duty did you inherit simply by being in the room?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
