The person who knows the local weather may understand the day better than your itinerary does.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Plans made from a distance are built out of opening hours and travel times. They cannot include how the wind comes up after two, which market is dead on a Monday, or why nobody sensible walks that road in August. Somebody who lives there carries all of it without calling it knowledge. Their offhand remark about the afternoon often beats the schedule you spent an evening making.

Ask one local person what they would do with your day and listen for the timing rather than the destination. Be willing to reorder things on the spot. A plan you can rearrange is worth more than one you finish on time.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Whom could you ask before trusting your plan for the day?
