Leave people a clear way to tell you when your help has stopped helping.
LEADERSHIP
LEADERSHIP
What begins as help hardens into an arrangement, and arrangements outlive the need that made them. Circumstances shift, the person recovers a little, the useful thing becomes an obligation on both sides, and nobody says anything because saying it would sound ungrateful. Without a clear way to end it, people simply endure help they no longer want.
Build a check into whatever you are offering, a specific moment when you ask whether it still fits. Say early that it is fine to stop or change it. If you are on the receiving end, an honest word now is easier than a year of politeness.
How would someone tell you your help had become a burden?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
