The player who adapts to a new position makes the whole team’s options wider.

Flexibility in one person changes what everybody else can attempt. Somebody willing to learn an unfamiliar role removes a constraint from every plan, because the arrangement no longer has to be built around one fixed shape. That contribution never shows up in individual statistics; it appears as the team suddenly having choices it did not have last season. The person doing it often looks less impressive while doing it, which is why it goes unrewarded.

If you can take on an unfamiliar role, consider it, and say out loud what it makes possible. And if somebody near you has already done it, make sure the credit reaches them.
