The waiting that ends well can be remembered more kindly than it was experienced.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Endings rewrite the middle. Months of not knowing, of bad sleep and rehearsed bad news, get compressed once the result is good into a story about how it all worked out, and the compression is genuine relief rather than dishonesty. It does mean the memory understates what it cost. That matters when somebody else is in the waiting now and you are tempted to reassure them with your own tidy version.
If you are the one waiting, you are not failing to cope by finding it hard. If you have come through something, say how difficult the waiting actually was rather than only how it ended.
