A parcel contains a future moment that several strangers help deliver.
GRATITUDE
GRATITUDE
What is being sent is not really the object. It is a moment in somebody’s kitchen four days from now, and the object is only how that moment travels. Between the two ends stands a chain of people who will never see the opening and mostly do not know what they are carrying. Ordinary systems run on that kind of anonymous cooperation, and they work so well nobody thinks about it.
Notice the chain occasionally and be decent to the part of it you can see. The person at the door is the visible end of a great many others. Send something to somebody who is not expecting it.
How many strangers helped the last good thing reach you?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
