The person affected deserves more than being informed after everything becomes fixed.

LEADERSHIP
Telling somebody after a decision is made is not consultation, however carefully it is worded. The information arrives when nothing can change, which makes the person an audience for their own situation and teaches them their view was not required. Being told late is its own message. Involvement means arriving while the shape is still soft.
If a decision touches somebody, bring them in before the options narrow. Ask what you have not thought of, and be honest about what is already settled. On the receiving end, you can ask to be included earlier next time.
Whom did you tell about a decision instead of consulting?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
