A marriage can have a beautiful beginning and still need to learn its ordinary language.

A good start is not a supply that lasts. The early feeling is real, and it does not teach two people how to say that they are tired, how to disagree about money, or how to ask for something without it sounding like a complaint. That vocabulary gets built slowly, in unremarkable conversations, long after the celebration. Couples who struggle later are often fluent in the beginning and beginners in the daily.
Take one small thing you have been hinting at and say it plainly this week. Notice which everyday sentences are still hard, since those are usually the ones worth practising.
What everyday language has your closest relationship had to invent?
