A collection becomes personal through the pieces that resist explaining their appeal.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
The items you can justify are the ones anybody might have chosen. What makes a collection yours is the piece you keep without an argument for it, the one that would embarrass you slightly if you had to defend it out loud. Taste is most itself where it stops being defensible. Anything fully explainable was probably assembled to be shown.
Look at what you have gathered, in whatever form it takes, and find the entry you cannot account for; keep it, and consider what it might be telling you about what you actually like.
What do you love without being able to defend it?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
