A hobby room can be untidy in ways that make complete sense to the person using it.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
There is a difference between disorder and a system somebody else cannot read. A workbench with things where the hands expect them, half-finished pieces left mid-thought, tools arranged by frequency rather than by type: it looks chaotic and functions perfectly for the one person using it. Tidying it to a general standard would make it look better and work worse. Order is defined by the work, not by the appearance.
Before you straighten somebody’s space, ask whether the mess is doing a job. And in your own working area, arrange for use rather than for how it would look to a visitor.
Which of your spaces would you defend from someone else’s tidying?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
