The person no longer waiting may still remember how carefully the uncertainty was handled.

LEADERSHIP
How a decision is delivered outlasts the decision itself. Once the answer is known and the waiting is over, what stays with a person is whether they were kept informed, spoken to honestly and treated as someone with a life on hold. An outcome can be forgiven; carelessness during the wait tends not to be. The interval is never dead time for whoever is inside it.
If someone is waiting on you for anything this week, tell them what you know and when you will know more. Even a plain note saying there is no news yet is a kindness. It turns silence, which people fill with fear, into information.
Whose waiting on you deserved more care than it received?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
