A borrowed standard can keep moving because it was never designed around your needs.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
A standard you did not set can be revised without you. When the measure of doing well comes from an industry, a family or a feed, the bar rises whenever the people who own it feel like raising it, and no amount of achievement settles anything. Chasing it feels like effort and behaves like a treadmill. The trouble is not your pace but who owns the target.
Write down what enough would look like in your own words, with numbers or dates where you can. Then notice which of your current goals came from somewhere else. Keeping any of them is fine, provided you know whose they are.
Whose measure of a good life are you still using?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
