A lifetime of decisions deserves more than a sudden assumption that convenience should choose now.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
When somebody becomes harder to help, decisions about their life can start being made on the grounds of what is simplest for everyone else. They have spent decades choosing where to live, what to eat, when to sleep and who to see, and that history does not stop being theirs because assistance is now needed. Convenience is a real factor and a poor first principle. Being cared for should not mean being administered.
If you are supporting someone, ask what they want before proposing what is easiest. Offer options rather than conclusions, and allow the slower route where the risk is theirs to carry.
Whose long-held preferences have you overridden for the sake of speed?
