The person sweeping up fur is doing an ordinary part of an affectionate choice.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Affection produces chores. Fur on the floor, early walks in the rain, vet bills, the ruined rug: none of it is separate from the choice to have an animal in the house, and none of it is evidence of regret. Love in practice is largely maintenance, and the maintenance is what the feeling looks like once it is put down. Sweeping up is not the price of the pleasure, it is part of the same thing.

Notice this week which of your chores exist because of someone you care about. Doing them without complaint is one way of saying so.
